A memorable 2014 campaign with a Big 12 championship and a second College World Series appearance in the last five seasons came to a close as TCU fell to Ole Miss, 6-4, Thursday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. The team will arrive back on campus at 1 p.m. on June 20 in Lot 2. Fans are encouraged to greet and welcome them home.
TCU baseball opened play in Omaha on Sunday June 15, beating Texas Tech and moved on to the next round of play. TCU dropped a 15 inning heartbreaker to Virginia on June 17 and will face Ole Miss on June 19 at 7 p.m.
The TCU baseball program hosted and beat Pepperdine in a best-of-three Super Regional at Lupton Stadium with the winner advancing to Omaha and the College World Series. The Horned Frogs (47-16) are making their second CWS appearance in the last five seasons. On both occasions, TCU won a Game 3 of the Super Regional. In 2010, it was at Texas.
After TCU won the Big 12 Conference title in baseball, the NCAA Baseball Regional brackets were announced on ESPNU. The TCU Horned Frogs, hosted their fourth regional in program history, and earned their first-ever national seed. TCU was selected as the No. 7 national seed. This was the Frogs’ 12th overall trip to the regionals. The previous 11 trips came in 1956, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012. TCU is one of just 13 teams nationally to play in 10 of the last 11 regionals.
