“Starbright & Vine,” an original stage play by FTDM professor Richard Allen, will be presented at Fort Worth’s Stage West from February 27 through March 23 as part of the theatre’s 2013-14 season.
Stage West’s artistic and co-producing director Jim Covault selected the play and will be directing this world premiere production. Its cast includes Cliff Stephens, a veteran star of stage and screen whose credits include regular appearances on “Wishbone,” a PBS series that many current FTDM students grew up on. Stage West’s season brochure describes the play as follows: “A sharp and biting new comedy. Two stubborn, jaded celebrities, a 70-something comic and a younger writer, are forced together against their will to create one grand finale sketch to be aired on national television. Late nights and forgotten memories lead to hilarious blow-outs and heartbreaking discoveries. But when it comes down to it, these two bitter and lost souls find something in each other that they didn’t expect.”
