Stacy Landreth Grau, professor of marketing practice and the lead instructor for Design Thinking, is honored as Neeley Alumni Professor of the Year.
In classrooms, workshops and TCU Neeley executive education courses, Stacy Landreth Grau is helping create innovators who can tackle complex problems in business organizations. For that and her approach to marketing, the TCU Neeley Alumni Executive Board chose Grau as the 2017 Neeley Alumni Professor of the Year.
Grau teaches design thinking, marketing communications, consumer insights, and digital and social media at the undergraduate level, and social media, content marketing and design thinking at the MBA level. She also is a faculty fellow at the TCU Idea Factory. She served as academic director of Neeley Fellows honors program.
“I am passionate about using design thinking and creative problem-solving frameworks to tackle user-centered problems and develop unique innovations, particularly in education,” she said. “Helping students become true professionals through real-world applications is the reason why I teach.”
Grau began her career in advertising working for several agencies and then served as assistant professor of marketing for Villanova University before joining TCU in 2006.
“Dr. Grau’s contributions to the Department of Marketing, her students, Neeley Fellows and Design Thinking is truly noticed and appreciated by our alumni,” said O. Homer Erekson, the John V. Roach Dean of the TCU Neeley School.

“She enticed us with the entertaining case studies and marketing plans, and then showed us the hard work, strategic thinking and creative problem solving it took to get to those conclusions,” said Nate Arnold BBA ’09, manager of the Greenhouse Innovation Lab at Deloitte.
Grau learned Design Thinking at Stanford University’s Hassno Plattner School of Design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and both a master’s degree in Marketing and a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Marketing) from Louisiana State University.
