School of Music hosting national conference of the College Orchestra Directors Association

TCU School of Music is hosting on campus the 2014 National Conference of the College Orchestra Directors Association from Jan. 23-25. Organizers expect more than 60 conductors to attend, representing schools from all corners of the U.S. … from Florida to Oregon, Eastern Michigan to UT in Austin.

Plans for the group include a tour of the Meyerson Center and attending a rehearsal of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jaap van Zweden, as well as attendance at TCU’s Latin American Music Festival Friday night in Ed Landreth Auditorium. The TCU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Germán Gutiérrez, will perform with Daniel Binelli on the bandoneon and Polly Ferman on piano.

There will be two daytime concerts Saturday, the first by the Baylor University Symphony Orchestra and tanother by the University of West Virginia Symphony.

Filling in other time slots between Thursday and Saturday will be lectures, demonstrations, clinics and masterclasses conducted by CODA members.
